Net charge distributions in 100 GeV hadron‐nucleus collisions

2008
Collisions of 100 GeV π+, π−, p, and p with Mg, Ag, and Au foils have been studied in Fermilab Experiment E597 using the 30‐in bubble chamber and Downstream Particle Identifier. Rapidity distributions of observed net charge, including subtraction of relativistic protons from struck targets, are described. Comparisons are made with results on net charge from leading particle fragmentation in hadron‐proton experiments and from theoretical models.
