Requirements for ITER Diagnostics

The requirements for diagnostics on ITER are determined from a consideration of the role plasma measurements will play in the operation and evaluation of the tokamak. The proposed list of measurements and the detailed measurement specifications - parameter ranges, target measurement resolutions and accuracies - are presented. The principal practical problems that will have to be overcome in implementing the diagnostics are outlined and areas where particular difficulties arise are identified.
