Analysis of Temperature Field and Thermal Stress for High Speed Train Brake Disc

2021
The temperature field and thermal stress field of the brake disc in emergency braking of high-speed train are simulated by Finite Element Method. By using the energy equivalent method, the frictional heat during emergency braking processes was applied to the friction surfaces in the form of heat flow density. Considering the influences of air convection and thermal radiation, a comprehensive heat transfer coefficient was uesd in the simulation model. It is concluded that the temperature field is distributed in gradient along the radial direction, and the annular high temperature region diffuses outward continuously. During the braking process, ribs absorb large amounts of braking heat and dissipate by convection. The maximum thermal stress point in braking process is located at the joint between the hub and the brake disc.
