Study on the relationship between occupational well-being and stress of young faculties in Chinese universities

As the main force of higher education, young teachers are stressed in work and life. Using statistical methods of correlation analysis and ANOVA, this study shows results from 685 surveys in China: (1) Full-time young teachers are in moderate level of occupational well-being among variables of interpersonal relationship, job satisfaction and organisational support, and they are under tremendous stress in scientific research, teaching and economic position; (2) There is a negative correlation between occupational well-being and stress, while stresses of promotion and economic position have a larger impact on young teachers' sense of occupational well-being; (3) There is a significant gender differences in dealing with stress from promotion, economic position and marriage. Teachers with different positional title vary in their job satisfaction, general sense of well-being, stress from economic position and marriage. There is a remarkable income difference among young teachers who have the senses of occupational well-being.
