Method and apparatus for operating a drive system having an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a method of operating a drive system (1, 1 ') with an internal combustion engine (2), wherein the drive system (1, 1') an electric motor-assisted exhaust-driven supercharger (6) or a purely electrically driven charging means (9), with the following steps: - checking (S1) whether a switching process has been started, and a drive train is correspondingly opened; - Upon detection of an initiated switching operation, setting (S2) of the compressor power of the charging device (6, 9), by additionally providing electric power to the electric motor-assisted exhaust gas-driven supercharger (6) or to the all-electric charging means (9) so that at least end of the switching operation, a load pressure in a load-pressure section of the drive system (1, 1 ') is provided which is higher than a load pressure at a provided during the shift exhaust enthalpy of the internal combustion engine (2) results in corresponding compressor performance.
