Simulation of a coupled room scenario based on geometrical acoustics simulation models
2019
As part of the most recent room acoustical simulation round robin, a coupled room scenario, consisting of a laboratory room and a reverberation chamber, is investigated. The evaluation of the participants’ results, all using geometrical acoustics based simulation models, however, showed that the measured double slope of this scenario could not be matched by any of the six algorithms. In addition to the presentation of the measured and simulated results for this scenario, this work investigates and discusses the role the input datasets, especially the applied absorption coefficients. Additional results of a calculation model and of a simulation model are presented to demonstrate the options and the limitations concerning the simulation of coupled volumes using geometrical acoustics models. As part of the most recent room acoustical simulation round robin, a coupled room scenario, consisting of a laboratory room and a reverberation chamber, is investigated.
