Formation of Glutamate and GABA in Epileptogenic Tissue from Human Hippocampus in Vitro

Changes in the amino acid levels of epileptogenic foci of man were described by Van Gelder et al. (1972). Similar changes were found by Koyama (1972) during cobalt-induced epilepsy in rats. Changes of amino acid levels and of the activity of enzymes, involved in the brain amino metabolism, produced by convulsions were described by several investigators (Van Gelder 1974, Wiechert and Gollnitz 1970).
