A design optimization criteria of a ZVT DC-DC boost converter

2000
A design DC/DC boost zero-voltage-transition (ZVT) pulse-width modulation (PWM) converter using some design optimization criteria is presented. These design optimization criteria take into account a series of characteristics, and can choose between converters that use soft-switching technique. The design optimization criteria use a designated cost function and permits the best characteristics to be obtained for their operation and application. The ZVS is achieved for wide line and load ranges with minimum device voltage and current stresses. Under different load current conditions, the proposed design methodology has been fully verified with experimental results from a 300 Watt 100 kHz laboratory prototype.
