MEASUREMENT AND ESTIMATION OF CONTACT WIRE UNEVENNESS

This paper describes how a precise method to accurately and continuously measure the unevenness of overhead contact lines on electric railroads was developed. An instrument consisting of two pairs of laser sensors was designed to reduce measurement errors caused by vertical vibrations of the measurement vehicle. it was shown how more accurate measurements would aid in analyzing the influence of contact line unevenness on contact force fluctuations between contact lines and pantographs.
