Theory of band structure changes in perovskites induced by ferroelectric phase transition

Abstract Perovskite band-structure characteristics and effects on energy levels induced by the spontaneous polarization (P s ) are displayed and connected with optical electronic and electro-optic properties. Phase transition and precusor effects are analysed through ion orbital interactions and Bloch orbital interactions and provide an identification of some important parameters which cause the setting up of P s .
