Efficient removal of fungicide “Imazalil” from water by electrochemical processes

2017
The oxidative degradation of Imazalil has been carried out by anodic oxidation using the DDB, SnO 2 , and DSA. The molecule model chosen was Imazalil that is an organochloride fungicide used to treat certain fruits. It has been shown that the imazalil has been removed completely by electro-oxidation and the kinetic follows a pseudo-first order reaction. The aim of this work was to presents a comparative study of the electrochemical degradation of the imazalil, using three electrodes DDB, SnO 2 , DSA. The influences of current density, temperature, and concentration of pesticide were also investigated. Chemical oxygen demand measurements were conducted to study the reaction kinetics of pesticides mineralization. The overall results indicated that BDD electrode exhibited the best performance.
