Correlation between urinary albumin/creatinine ratio and cognitive function in patients with hypertension

2018
Objective To investigate the relationship between cognitive impairment and urinary albumin/creatinine ratio in patients with hypertension, as well as to provide clinical reference for early detection and prevention of cognitive impairment in patients with hypertension. Methods General information of 404 patients 50 years of age and over with hypertension were collected. Then the blood biochemical tests, urinary microalbumin and creatinine levels of all patients were measured and cognitive function assessed by the international general Mini Mental State Scale(MMSE). Finally, these patients were divided into normal cognitive function group and cognitive dysfunction group according to the corresponding criteria. Results Compared with normal cognitive function group, cognitive dysfunction group had older age, higher systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure, urinary albumin/creatinine, BMI, cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and fasting blood glucose(all P<0.05)and lower high density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.05). MMSE score was negatively correlated with age, urinary albumin/creatinine ratio, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(all P<0.05)and positively correlated with high density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.05)by the single factor correlation analysis.Gender, age, hypertension classification and urinary albumin/creatinine ratio were related to cognitive impairment in hypertensive patients by two Logistic regression analysis(all P<0.05). Conclusions Gender, age, hypertension classification and urinary albumin/creatinine ratio are risk factors for cognitive impairment in hypertensive patients. Key words: Hypertension; Cognition disorders; Urinary albumin/creatinine ratio
