Lighting Simulation and Validation for High Power LED Matrix Luminaire

2018
In this work a lighting study of a high-power light-emitting diode (HP-LED) luminaire is presented. Some experimental simulations are performed in two case studies. The temperature behavior of the luminaire is also evaluated (with and without forced cooling) as increases the number of active LEDs in the luminaire. The illuminance behavior of each LED is still related as the luminaire temperature increases. Through a model of the luminaire designed in a stochastic ray tracing simulation software, a simulation is performed with 1 million rays obeying the same technical specifications of practical experimentation. The simulation results are compared with the results obtained in the practical experiment and the model is validated with an error of $\pm 3.8 \ {\%}$ along x-axis of target plane and $\pm 5.4 \ {\%}$ along y-axis of target plane.
