Clinical characteristics of 109 dengue virus type 2 infected cases in Xishuangbanna

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of dengue virus type 2 infected cases in Xishuangbanna, and to provide evidences for effective diagnosis and treatment of local dengue fever. Methods Clinical and laboratory data of 109 dengue virus type 2 infected cases in the People′s Hospital of Xishuangbanna in 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among 109 dengue virus type 2 infected cases, the percentages of different symptoms were as follows, fever 100.0%, headache and myalgia 97.2%, skin rash 32.1%, bleeding 11.0%, leucopenia 80.7%, thrombocytopenia 89.0%, coagulopathy 78.9%, hepatic injury 79.8%, myocardial injury 45.9% and renal dysfunction 4.6%. Actually, 13 patients (11.9%) were diagnosed with severe dengue fever, and the others were all diagnosed with the common dengue fever. Conclusions The dengue virus type 2 infection in Xishuangbanna, 2015 tends to have higher proportion of severe cases, and coagulopathy, hepatic injury and myocardial injury are frequently seen. Once the dengue fever patients have the above indicators, close attention should be paid so as to prevent severe diseases or even death.
