Inversion - the importance of low frequency phase alignment

2000
Summary Low frequencies are important in calibrating the inversion of processed seismic data. Recent developments in seismic deconvolution have demonstrated that low frequency phase errors can be corrected to zero phase for improving interpretation. This would suggest that applying these procedures would also improve the results of inversion. Some different methods of deconvolution and wavelet extraction are compared using synthetic and real data examples to illustrate the impact of phase misalignment on inversion.
