Analysis the Indian management education

2013
Management education in India is at crossroads. In the last decade we have witnessed a substantial rise in the number of management education providers in the country. However, with this ever increasing rise in the numbers, the question of delivering effective education in tune with the industry requirements seemed to have lost. In fact many business schools are yet to justify their presence. The role of many business schools seems no more than that of a placement agency. This paper examines the relevant issues related to effective delivery of management education and suggests possible measures for improvement considering the current misalignment in the system. It would highlight on best procedures in moving away from the pedagogical system of delivering management education towards a practice based system and inculcating such innovative aspects in the curriculum which will be most relevant and applicable for a student in his initial working life. This paper starts with discussing the current situation, the demand of the present scenario and then go on to provide possible solutions in terms of bringing about a change in curriculum, introducing the feedback mechanism and taking relevant lessons from the industry.
