Scientific substantiation of the technology of circulating fluidized-bed combustion of Russian fossil fuels

The paper outlines the main results of studies carried out to scientifically substantiate the introduction of the technology of circulating fluidized-bed combustion of fossil fuels. Special attention is paid to the investigation of the hydrodynamics and the heat and mass transfer processes in the furnace circuit and to the development of appropriate recommendations. The issues related to simulating these processes are considered, and the results obtained are compared with the data on foreign circulating fluidized-bed boilers. Experimental data are given on the efficiency of combustion of different coals and on the conditions for the formation and suppression of nitrogen and sulfur oxides.
