Signal timing method for four-road ring intersection based on backward movement of stop line

2015
The invention discloses a signal timing method for a four-road ring intersection based on backward movement of a stop line, relating to a signal timing technology for a four-road ring intersection. The method solves the problem of traffic jam caused by unbalanced traffic state of each entry of the four-road ring intersection. According to the method, when two opposite entries have great motor vehicle flow difference, the stop line of the entry with large flow moves backward, and a give-way line is arranged at the entry; when the stop line of only one entry moves backward, third-phase control is adopted at the entry; when two non-opposite entries are present in the entries where the stop lines move back, third-phase and fourth-phase control are respectively adopted at the two entries; and when two opposite entries are present in the entries where the stop lines move back, the same phase control is adopted at the two opposite entries. Yellow flash is added between the red light and the green light in the third-phase and fourth-phase control. The method can balance the traffic flow distribution of the intersection and ease the traffic jam.
