Proximal resection of carcinoma of the gastric cardia

2003
: Carcinoma of the gaster remains one of the major problems of the operative oncology, because of its high freguency, late diagnosis and low rate of five years survival. Although there are a lot of researches in this field, there is still a controversy about the size of the operative treatment of carcinoma of the gastric cardia. Some of the surgeons advocate gastrectomy as the only radical operation. Others prefer proximal resection as a method, saving a part of gaster, and in that way its important physiological functions for the organism.
