Gemeinsam in Christus. Die Einheit von Nächstenliebe und Gottesliebe nach Augustin und Karl Barth

While Augustine interprets the relation between love of neighbour and love of God by distinguishing between "uti" and "frui", Karl Barth focuses on God's unconditionally kenotic love in Christ and understands love of neighbour as a purely receptive experience. The combination of both perspectives clarifies the relation between the two sides of the one Christian love and shows that love of neighbour mirrors the reciprocity of love between God and the believers. In love of neighbour, the love between God and the believers enters into the diversity of creaturely individuality.
