Evaluation of the addition of potassium chloride to lidocaine as an anesthetic in dentistry

Quality of anesthesia produced by lidocaine alone and in combination with potassium chloride or epinephrine showed differences in double blind tests conducted with patients and volunteers. Lidocaine with epinephrine seemed to have the most desirable qualities. However, lidocaine with potassium chloride may be valuable for patients with cardiovascular disease.
