Design of a High Efficiency Low Sidelobe Dual-Polarization Cavity Antenna Array at Ku-band

A 16 × 4 dual-polarization antenna array with high efficiency and low sidelobe is designed. To achieve good radiation efficiency, cavity antenna is used in this work as the basic element and stripelines are utilized to form the feeding networks. The feeding circuits for exciting different polarizations are stacked and carefully weighted. The simulated results show that the bandwidths of VSWR < 1.6 for both of the polarizations are about 7.89% (14.6GHz-15.8GHz) and the isolation between the two ports is better than 40dB. In addition, 63% radiation efficiency (center frequency) with higher than 25.5dB gain is achieved.
