A review of the scope and spectrum of challenges presented to the general surgeon by patients affected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

The study will provide a critical overview of the current literature with respect to certain conditions associated with HIV that are of particular interest to the general surgeon. The study will detail aspects of the incidence, presentation, challenges in diagnosis and outcomes to existent therapies, in particular, the role of modern antiretroviral drugs. The information will be assimilated to provide a comprehensive update on the issues surrounding HIV- related surgical pathology and our standard of care to patients.
