Measurement of the neutron’s electric formfactor GE,n in D(e⃗,e′n⃗)p and 3H⃗e(e⃗,e′n)pp

2008
Form factors for elastic electron scattering parametrise the coherent electromagnetic response of a composite system. They provide information vital for our understanding of the dynamical properties of the nucleon ground state. The proton form factors have been measured over the last 40 years through Rosenbluth-separation over a large range of momentum transfer. Neutron form factors now benefit from coincidence experiments at modern cw accelerators. Least known is the electric formfactor of the neutron GE,n. Here double polarisation experiments start to exhibit their full potential and deliver first results.
