Crystallization of lithium triborate LiB3O5 in the Li2O-B2O3-MoO3 system

Lithium triborate crystals are grown from the Li 2 O-B 2 O,-MoO 3 system using solution-melt crystallization at spontaneous nucleation, seeded crystallization, and quenching. The Li 2 O-B 2 O 3 , B 2 O 3 -MoO 3 , and Li 2 MoO 4 -MoO 3 binary systems framing the Li 2 O-B 2 O 3 -MoO 3 ternary system are studied in the subliquidus region using the method of solid-phase reactions. The LiB 3 O 5 -MoO 3 and LiB 3 O 5 -Li 4 Mo 5 O 17 sections and the LiB 3 O 5 -Li 4 Mo 5 O 17 -MoO 3 ternary system of this oxide system are also examined.
