New measurement of the deuteron binding energy

1978
The deuteron is the simplest stable nuclear system and this is responsible for the significant interest in the study of its basic properties. In particular, an increase in the accuracy of measurement of the binding energy will permit refinement of the deuteron mass and the neutron mass and in this way will directly influence the accuracy of the scale of nuclear masses.
