A Combustion Model of an Homogeneous Charge Hydrogen Fuelled Rotary Engine

This paper describes a simulation model for the combustion process in a homogeneous charge hydrogen fuelled rotary engine. The model incorporates a five-zone combustion model, gas leakage past the seals, true engine geometry, heat transfer and gas velocity pattern calculation. The model has been calibrated by comparison of simulated results with measured combustion pressure trace and flame propagation data.
