Integrating Simulation to Existing Educational Programs

2019
Abstract During the last decade, simulation has become an integral part of healthcare education. The main goal of simulation is to enhance its parent educational program in the preparation of competent healthcare providers. To achieve this goal, a quality simulation program must be closely integrated with its parent educational program. This integration is complex and has administrative, fiscal, curricular, and methodological attributes. They ensure alignment of the simulation program’s priorities with the mission and vision of the parent institution without compromising its autonomy. Sustainability of simulation depends on its financial integration into the parent program while curricular integration determines whether its educational goals are achieved or not. The process of integration of simulation programs into the existing educational programs is never-ending. This goal is impossible to achieve without the collective effort of all parties involved in healthcare education.
