Radiation Effect on Polytetrafluoroethylene Studied by ESR

This review introduces some of the pioneering works on radiolysis of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE),which started in the mid 1950s.The electron spin resonance(ESR) studies on radiation-induced radicals and their corresponding peroxy radicals in PTFE were reviewed,with respect to experimental conditions,irradiation dose,structures of PTFE powders(i.e.,crystallinity and crosslinking).
