Lα and Lβ Satellites of Copper: A Theoretical Description by an SCF Method Including Spin-Orbit Interaction

1981
In this paper we give a brief description of the method used to calculate transition energies and probabilities, and present results concerning the Lα and Lβ (3d → 2p) emission lines and satellites of copper and their comparison with experimental observations. In the solid, the satellite structure is mainly due to the radiative de-excitation of 2p53d94s levels to 2p63d84s levels, and seems to be attributable to the presence of a Coster-Kronig effect, which does not occur in the vapour where only the p5d10 → p6d9 transition appears.
