The methodological assessment of turbidimetry and nephelometry in immunoassay for serum immunoglobulins

2005
Objective To assess the outcome bias between turbidimetry and nephelometry in immunoassay for serum immunoglobulins. Methods According to the profile NCCLS-EP9-A,two different methods, nephelometry (as test method) and turbidimetry (as comparative method),were used for immunoassay of IgA,IgG and IgM.The correlation of obtained data was analyzed and the outcome bias between the two methods was assessed. Results The outcome bias between the two methods for IgA and IgG at various concentrations was acceptable. The outcome bias for IgM was also acceptable at all the concentrations except for 1.0 g/L.Conclusion The bias between turbidimetry and nephelometry for immunoassay of serum IgA, IgG and IgM was acceptable providing the automatic biochemical analyzer and the matching reagent are used.
