Improvement of bandwidth limitation and chromatic- dispersion tolerances using 4-level/7-level coding PAM for direct-detection system

We have achieved improved bandwidth limitation and chromatic-dispersion tolerances in a 4-level/7-level coding PAM scheme for a direct-detection system. Simulation results showed the scheme enabled improved 112-Gb/s transmission. The scheme's feasibility was also experimentally confirmed.
