The dizziness handicap inventory evaluation of symptoms in Meniere's disease patients treated by Diaoshi Jifa

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of DiaoShi Jifa,a well-known traditional Chinese Medicine spinal manipulation approach,on dizziness in patients with Meniere's disease.Methods Sixteen patients with Meniere's disease were divided into 2 groups: the experimental group treated with Diaoshi Jifa plus conventional medicines,and the control group treated with conventional medicines alone.The therapeutic effects were scored with dizziness handicap inventory(DHI) before and 1 day post treatments.Results Our results showed that Diaoshi Jifa was well tolerated.Compared with patients receiving conventional medical treatment alone(DHI score=48.33±21.70),patients receiving Diaoshi Jifa plus conventional medical treatment(DHI score=7.33±5.48) showed much lower DHI score after one-day treatment(P=0.000).Conclusions The present study suggests that Diaoshi Jifa could be an effective treatment for dizziness symptoms in Meniere's disease patients.
