Effect of Green House Gases on Vegetable Production

2021
In modern agriculture, climate change is one of the important factors which reduce the production of vegetable crops. High temperature, water stress, drought, heavy rainfall, salinity are some of the factors which cause environmental stress. While, emission of green house gases from industry, agriculture and deforestation are some of the important factor which contributes to recent climate change and increases the temperature of environment and cause global warming. In modern agriculture, one of the serious challenges is mitigation of these green house gases. Vegetables contain various nutrients which maintain the health of our body as it doesn’t add calories to our body. Consuming proper amount of vegetables in our diet lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, type II diabetes and also protect our body against various forms of cancer. But Vegetables are highly sensitive to climate change and due to change in climate crop failures across the worlds. Greenhouse gases are one the major cause of climate change which shows severe effects on the vegetable production. Several green house gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide which are main cause of global warming and affects both the quality and productivity of vegetables.
