« Une fois encore, la poésie m’obsède. » Bronisław Malinowski, poète polonais

Malinowski, ne en Pologne d’un pere philologue, passionne de folklore et d’une noble polyglotte, se lia d’amitie avec les jeunes lettres et artistes de son epoque, tous destines a devenir des figures emblematiques de l’histoire de la litterature et de l’art polonais. Cet article a pour but de presenter le contexte social et intellectuel de Cracovie dans laquelle le jeune Malinowski fait ses premieres tentatives litteraires. Nous evoquerons principalement sa relation avec le dramaturge, philosophe et peintre Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz avec qui il partagera une partie de son voyage (fondamental pour l’histoire de l’anthropologie) aux « Tropiques », ou encore son amitie avec le poete Tadeusz Nalepinski. La poesie ecrite par Malinowski est eloignee du canon esthetique de l’epoque, et la vie qu'il mene se tient a l'ecart des dereglements « bohemiens » (malgre une reference explicite au haschich dans un poeme) en raison a la fois de sa sante — une serie de maladies successives l’avaient laisse prostre au sortir de l'adolescence — et de son attachement a sa mere restee veuve. De son œuvre poetique juvenile restent une dizaine de poemes de correspondance, des motets adresses a des amis et quelques poemes d’amour.Malinowski, born in Poland to a father who was a philologist, passionate of folklore and a polyglot mother of noble origins, became friends with the young writers and artists of his time, who were all destined to become emblematic figures in the history of Polish literature and art. This article aims to present the social and literary context of Krakow when the young Malinowski was making his first literary efforts. We will focus on his relationship with playwrite, philosopher and painter Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz who travelled to Tropics with Malinowski, in a journey that would have an important impact on the history of anthropology. Another important friendship during this period was that with the poet Tadeusz Nalepinski. The young Malinowski wrote poetry that did not conform to the aesthetic canon of the time; he had lived a sheltered youth, far from "bohemian" extravagancies — despite an explicit reference to hashish in one poem, — because from adolescence he had suffered with a of a long series of debilitating diseases and because of his strong attachment to his widowed mother. Some poems of correspondence, addressed to friends and a few love poems remain from his youthful poetic work.
