Comparative study on wind-resistance of 21 Hevea brasiliensis clones

2012
Twenty-one clones of Hevea brasiliensis at sapling stage and early stages of tapping plantation were tested for their resistance to typhoon.Cluster analysis based on 4 indexes correlative with wind damage of 18 cultivar resources at above 2 growth stages was made by Statistical Product and Service Solutions soft ware according to minimum squared Euclidean distance(MSED).The results showed that the snapping and uprooting and index of the wind damage between clones had highly significant differences, but differences between blocks were not significant. The 18 clones could be clustered into 4 groups based on their resistances to typhoon, among which CATAS14,PR107,TSF3 and TSF11 were the strongest, but TSF18 and TSF20 were the weakest, while the other 12 cultivars had medium resistance to wind damage.Based on the above results,3 new lines with good resistance to wind damage would be used as available trial materials of wind-resistance and high-yielding breeding and improvement, and correlative genetic research in H.brasiliensis.
