CORRELATION BETWEEN PSAD, HYPOECHOIC LESION, AND GLEASON SCORE IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING PROSTATE BIOPSY AT Dr.SUTOMO HOSPITAL SURABAYA FROM JANUARY – DECEMBER 2009

Background Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of death after lung cancer in Europe and North America. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between prostate specific antigen density (PSAD), Hypoechoic Lesion, and Gleason Score in improving detection of prostate cancer. Material & Methods This study analyzed retrospectively medical records patients underwent Transrectal Ultrasound (TRUS) biopsy at Dr.Sutomo Hospital from January until December 2009. There were 88 patients underwent TRUS biopsy recorded at the medical record. From these patients, we took a note of the PSAD, hypoechoic lesion, Gleason Score, and the pathology result of the biopsy.  Spearman correlation test was used to determine the correlation between variables.   Result The mean age was 61,76± 5,416 years old.
