Abstract One hundred one thoroughbred horses in training, sellected by alleatory simple method were subjected to auscultation and electrocardiographic examination. They were classified in normal and abnormals horses with the specification of the type of abnormality. At the auscultation exam, 40.6% of the horses were normal and 59.4% abnormal, where 45% corresponded to sistolic murmur, 8.3% splitting of the first heart sound, 6.7% .sistolic murmur with the concomitant arrithmia, 6.7% splitting of the second heart sound, and 10% of unspecific arrithmias. The remain of the auscultatory abnormalities presented a percentage lower 5% in each one of them. The electrocardiographic examination presented 48.5% of normal horses and a 51.5% of abnormal. From the latest group, 26.9% showed sinus of atrial over load 23.1% wandering pacemarker, 7.7% sinus arrithmia, 7.7% wandering pacemarker concomitant with a atrial over load. The rest of the abnormalities presented values lower than 6%. The relationship between the auscultation and the electrocardiographic examination, indicates that the cardiac abnormalities, which that not involved the pacemarker and the conduction svstem, do not present an electrocardiographic expression. On the other hand, alterations of the cardiac ritmm and conduction presented a faithful electric expression. Key words: Thoroughbred horses, electrocardiography, training.
