2LL-20 : High Active and Stable Heterostructured MoO 2 @CoMo Catalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction
2019
Hydrogen production via water electrolyzer is a promising technology to store the electricity produced from renewable energies. Water electrolysis is an outstanding method in that it can only generate pure hydrogen and oxygen. Pt and Pt-based catalysts have been known to show the most hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance. However, expensive cost and scarcity make it difficult to commercialization. Transition metals are used to solve this problem. The activity of transition metals needs to be improved by fabricating nano structures and making synergy effect with other transition metals. Herein, bubbletemplated CoMo catalysts were fabricated on carbon paper by electrodeposition. Then, electrochemical etching in acidic electrolyte selectively dissolves Co. At the same time, the surface Mo was electrochemically oxidized to MoO2. As a result, the MoO2@CoMo heterostructure catalyst demonstrated high stability and intrinsic activity for HER performance in acidic electrolyte.
