DEVELOPMENT IN THE PORT OF BELAWAN IN INDONESIA

The port of Belawan is Indonesia's largest non-oil exporting port and the third major port after Tanjung Priok and Surabaya. Belawan is situated in the province of Northern Sumatra some 23 km north of Medan, the provincial capital. The port is located at the confluence of the Belawan and Deli rivers and is connected to deep water in the Straits of Malacca by a 12 km long dredged channel.
