Determination of the Electric Quadrupole Moment of Li 7 by Coulomb Scattering of an Aligned Li 7 Ions

The electric quadrupole moment of $^{7}\mathrm{Li}$ was determined by Coulomb scattering of aligned $^{7}\mathrm{Li}$ ions to be $Q=(\ensuremath{-}34\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}6)e$ mb. This compares favorably with the value $Q=(\ensuremath{-}41\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}6)e$ mb determined by atomic-beam spectroscopy.
