Method for producing vinylidene fluoride polymer

2012
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method which is capable of reducing the amount of floating substances in discharged water in comparison to conventional production methods, said floating substances being generated during the production of a vinylidene fluoride polymer by suspension polymerization. A method for producing a vinylidene fluoride polymer of the present invention is a method wherein monomers including at least vinylidene fluoride are subjected to suspension polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator. This method for producing a vinylidene fluoride polymer is characterized in that: the suspension polymerization is carried out in the presence of at least one kind of fluorine compound selected from among hydrofluoroethers represented by general formula R1-O-R2 (wherein each of R1 and R2 represents an alkyl group or an alkyl fluoride group, with R1 and/or R2 being an alkyl fluoride group) and having a molecular weight of 100-800 and cyclic hydrofluorocarbons; the fluorine compound is used in an amount of 10-1000% by mass per 100% by mass of the polymerization initiator; and the polymerization initiator is used in an amount of 0.01-5 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of all the monomers used in the suspension polymerization.
