Pair production by neutrino bremsstrahlung

Standard model cross sections for electron-positron pair production by neutrino-bremsstrahlung in the nuclear field have been fitted to empirical formulas that can be used to estimate backgrounds to neutrino experiments and flux normalizations. A compact form of the matrix element obtained by analytic reduction is used to discuss the distributions and the physics. Predictions for typical supernovae neutrinos are compared with neutrino-electron scattering.
