A Critical Appraisal of the CAMRT Code of Ethics

2006
Abstract A well-articulated code of ethics is an important centerpiece in the life and evolution of any health profession. It is part of a profession's covenant with society, and should serve to assist members in grappling with the ethical dimensions of practice. At a minimum a code of ethics must be consistent with the theoretical foundations and moral principles that guide ethical behaviour in the health professions. This article uses these principles as a framework to inform a critical appraisal of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Code of Ethics, and to suggest that the time is ripe for the CAMRT to engage with members and other stakeholders to update and revise the Code. … there are two parts of good government; one is the actual obedience of citizens to the laws, the other part is the goodness of the laws which they obey … - Aristotle, Politics 1294a 3-6
