Electron Photo-Injector Beam Diode Driven by a 2.5 MV Pulsedpower Source for the DEINOS Project Scale Model

2007
Summary form only given. Accelerator technology has evolved to accommodate the demand for multiple images in time and space in radiographic applications. Improvements in electron beam quality have also resulted in smaller radiographic spot sizes. The mature technologies of photo-injectors and radiofrequency superconducting accelerating cavities offer a new approach for these applications. DEINOS is the demonstration phase of a photo-injector to be coupled to a radiofrequency superconducting accelerator dedicated to the RX2RF project. As a first step, we are constructing, a scale model for the DC photo-injector in order to demonstrate the feasibility and reliability. The paper describes the architecture of the photo-injector under construction at Bruyeres-le-Chatel research center. It is composed of a 2.5 MV pulsed DC high voltage generator, a photodiode electron beam source and a beam transport line for measurements. Next step construction of a 352 MHz superconducting accelerating structure designed to produce beams up to the energy of 15 MeV is foreseen.
