Investigation of filler material influence on hardness of TIG welded joints

Abstract Welding is the most common method of metal joining process done by the application of heat and pressure. TIG welding helps in welding of materials which can’t be easily combined by other techniques and nowadays its application has been diversified to various metals like mild steels, stainless steels, and High speed steels etc. In this present work, TIG welding was carried out on mild steel (IS 2062) plates with super Duplex ER2594 filler. An L9 orthogonal array was chosen with input parameters of current, weld speed and gas flow rate. Test result of micro hardness and micro structure were studied over welded area and base material. Further, anova was carried out to understand the influence of each parameter on hardness and mathematical model was proposed for predicting the same.
