The reaction of zinc chloride with borohydrides of the alkali metals in organic solvents

1974
1. In the interaction of zinc chloride with alkali metal borohydrides in organic solvents (diethyl ether, THF, diglyme), chlorine is replaced by the borohydride ion, with the formation of zinc borohydride. In the presence of alkali metal borohydride, complex hydrides — borohydride zincates — are formed. 2. Li2Zn(BH4)4·3EtO2 and RbZn(BH4)3·2DG in the crystalline state and oily NaZn(BH4)3·2TH.F were isolated. Cesium borohydride zincate co Id not be removed from cesium chloride and excess cesium borohydride. 3. The decomposition of borohydride zincates was studied by the methods of microstructural analysis, thermography, and IR spectroscopy.
