2012
Overview on music performance research in Brazil between 2000 and 2012, departing from an analysis of the production of Brazilian graduate programs in music reflected in (1) scholarly papers published in selected top music journals in Brazil (Per Musi, Musica Hodie and Opus), (2) papers published in major national music congresses in which performance is relevant (ANPPOM, SNPPM, SIMCAM, SEMPEM, SIMPOM and Simposio Internacional de Musicologia da UFRJ) and (3) selected thesis and dissertations from graduate programs. Departing from content and bibliometric analysis, it discusses (1) recurring problems related to outline, development and presentation of music performance research, (2) the definition of a taxonomy and trends of its thematic areas, and (3) its occurrence in relation to the other subareas of music. Finally, it presents some alternatives in music performance research to illustrate its intrinsically interdisciplinary nature with other field of knowledge and with interfaces with the other subareas of music.
