Carbon dioxide fixation by spermatozoa of cod.

Abstract 1. 1. Sperm of cod, in the presence of 14 CO 2 , incorporated label into keto-, amino and other organic acids, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. 2. 2. Pyruvate enhanced 14 CO 2 incorporation into the supernatant of the incubation mixture, whereas malonate depressed it. 3. 3. Extracts of frozen sperm and their acetone powder showed activity of malic enzyme, and of phosphoenolpyruvate and propionyl CoA carboxylases.
