Coordination states of Mn(ClO4)2, Co(ClO4)2, Ni(ClO4)2, and Zn(ClO4)2 in benzonitrile at 25°C
1988
Abstract The molar conductances have been determined for Mn(ClO 4 ) 2 , Co(ClO 4 ) 2 , Ni(ClO 4 ) 2 , and Zn(ClO 4 ) 2 in benzonitrile solutions at 25°C. Visible absorption spectra of Co(ClO 4 ) 2 and Ni(ClO 4 ) 2 in benzonitrile solutions indicate an existence of the cations in the form of the hexakis-benzonitrile complexes, while the tetrakis-benzonitrile cations are present in benzonitrile solutions of Mn(ClO 4 ) 2 and Zn(ClO 4 ) 2 . The limiting molar conductances of the solvo-cations are derived and discussed in terms of the solute—solvent and solvate—solvent interactions.
